ABOUT US

Veterans of the American military branches are returning home from serving our country; most come home to a loving family and a bright future. Unfortunately, not all are so lucky. Many return home from deployment broken and feeling alone, physically and/or mentally, with invisible scars that will last a lifetime. They face a long, hard road with a disability that will forever change their lives. All too often, that road becomes too much for the individual to endure. With a suicide rate of more than twenty per day, even one is too many. Our men and women Veterans/1st responders are proud and don’t want a handout, but they do need a helping hand. For many, a service dog is an answer to being able to return to a productive and independent lifestyle, to have a second chance at life.

At 4 Paws 4 Patriots, we combine our love and respect for American Veterans/1st responders with our love and devotion to saving a shelter dog. Whenever possible, we match an individual with a rescue dog, and they go through an extensive training class together in our program. Our caring and committed training staff are volunteer trainers who teach the individual to train his or her own dog, to be a certified ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) service dog, who will assist them with their needs. This partnership of self-training enhances the human/dog bonding process which is critical as they go through our training sessions for Basic Obedience, Public Access, and individually required Task training. During this training, the Veterans/1st responders are supported not only by our devoted training staff but also by other Veterans/1st responders who have had similar life-altering experiences.

Your donations, no matter how large or small, go directly to the support of our Veterans/1st responders and their dogs. Please help us to save a shelter dog and ensure that no Veteran/1st responder is left behind.

4 Paws 4 Patriots is a licensed 501(c)3 non-profit organization in California that provides assistance to Veterans with disabilities in acquiring a service dog, helping with training, and any readjustment services they may need. We also try to work with local shelters and rescue organizations to help save a dog and give them a better and healthier quality of life. The relationship and bond between a Veteran and his/her dog is everlasting and life-changing. There are never any charges to the Veterans or their families. We also accept first responders who are in need of a service dog into our training program, also at no cost to them or their families.

We have volunteer trainers who work with each Veteran to train their own dog for obedience, directional, socialization, public access, and personalized task training so they can become a strong and solid team. Our training program is very extensive and takes approximately a year to complete for each dog, possibly longer for more advanced task training. The 4 Paws 4 Patriots training program meets or exceeds Assistance Dogs International standards. The training that the Veteran and their dog complete meets the federal guidelines of disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the Fair Housing Act of 1988, and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

We presently offer training in Southern California in the following cities: Temecula and Riverside. For additional information regarding our training sites, please visit our web page:

We believe in “giving back to those who have given so much”, and for that reason, we do not require any fees from the Veterans or first responders who join our program to train their dogs. We rely on monetary donations and greatly appreciate your support of 4 Paws 4 Patriots. The war for disabled Veterans is not over when they come home. Please consider a monthly or one-time donation to help American Veterans and to even save a dog. Our tax deductible and for donations are:

I am very grateful to 4Paws4Patriots for getting me my service dog! 4 Paws is better than it gets! Tim is genuinely devoted to helping veterans become successful and independent with the assistance of a service animal, both emotionally PTSD and physically TBI. In my personal experience. I am a TBI survivor, Tim has done in a few weeks what my insurance provider has not been able to, giving me the runaround and every excuse under the sun. thank you, Tim and 4 Paws 4 Patriots!
